When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet
goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special
friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and
comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor.
Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we
remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are
happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very
special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops
and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers.
Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs
carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you
cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses
rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look
once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but
never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....
I'll lend you for a little while
My grandest foal, He said.
For you to love while he's alive
And morn for when he's dead.
It may be one or twenty years,
Or days or months , you see.
But, will you, till I take him back
Take care of him for me?
He'll bring his charms to gladden you,
And should his stay be brief
You'll have treasured memories
As solace for your grief.
I cannot promise he will stay,
Since all from earth return.
But, there are lessons taught on earth
I want this foal to learn.
I've looked the wide world over
In my search for teachers true.
And from the throngs that crowd life's lanes
With trust I have selected you.
Now will you give him your total love?
Nor think the labor vain,
Nor hate Me when I come
To take him back again?
I know you'll give him tenderness
And love will bloom each day.
And for the happiness you've known
Forever grateful stay.
But should I come and call for him
Much sooner than you'd planned
You'll brave the bitter grief that comes
And someday you'll understand.
For though I'll call him home to Me
This promise to you I do make
For all the love and care you gave
He'll wait for you, inside Heaven's Gate.
What we are allowed to share with those special spirits, can never be
taken from us. Those memories will be buried in our hearts forever.
And even though some of those memories are not as long as others,
they are very worthwhile.
"Sassy"
Spring of 1996 - January of 2004
Sassy waundered into our yard in the the Spring of 1996 in North
Carolina.  We tried to locate his owners but no one claimed him so
he stayed with us.  We soon took him to the vet where we found out
he had feline lukemia.  The vet at that time said he should be put
down but i said no way, he gave him a year to live.  Well Sassy was
with us for 8 years until it caught up with him.  We miss you Sassy
but we will always remember and love you!!!
"Morgan"
May of 1996 - May of 2006
Morgan was purchased in New York for my husband.  Everyone that saw him
fell in love with him. He had the cutest face of any dog I have ever seen.  He
was the big brother to our other 2 dogs.
In March we noticed he had a tumor on the inside of his one rear leg.  We
took him to the vet where they lasered it out, he came through the surgery
fine.  Well later in May we noticed it had come back was larger, we took him
to the vet where we got the news that it had spread into his organs.  The only
humane thing to do was to not let him suffer anymore, and we had to
unfortunatly put him to sleep.  We miss you Morgan as do your brothers!!
" Bandit"
March 2003 - November 30, 2003
The  poem below is in memory of "Bandit" who was only with us for
8 months.  He was a beautiful buckskin out of our sire Rich In
Smoke.  He was the friendliest and calmest colt you have ever seen.
We lost him due to an unfortunate accident in his stall.  Every
morning when I went out to feed he would whinny to me and be
waiting for his feed.  This mornig he did not whinny and would not
turn around to eat.  I immediately called the vet and he came out.
After looking him over we discovered that some how that night in
the stall he had crushed his stifle and it could not be repaired.  We
had to have him put down.  Unfortunatly we have no pictures of him
because his life was cut short so quick but he will forever be in our
hearts.  We miss you and love you forever Bandit.

" Jake"
Spring of 1997 - January 5, 2009
Jake was dumped off at the little country store I worked at in North Carolina.
He was a little fuzz ball and just could not resist bringing him home.  He was a
friendly dog but people were intimidated by him because of his looks and the
lil growl he would do when he was excited.  He joined his brother Morgan over
the rainbow bridge on January 5 , he died of old age.  He was having good and
bad days towards the end. On the day he died I was headed out to the barn to
feed the horses and turn them out, I noticed the other two dogs were out and
about but not Jake.  I went in their pen and noticed him just laying in his igloo
house looking at me.  I could tell by the look in his eyes that he did not have
much longer.  I sat with him for about 15 minutes and just petted him.  I told
him i was going to turn the horses out and would be right back, when I
returned he had passed.  I guess he was just wanting to see me before he left..
We miss you Jake and will always Love you.
